How to Plan a Renovation? 7 Rules That Keep the Site Sane
Renovation planning means sequence, schedule, budget reserve and a communication plan — the 7 rules we use on Antalya projects.
A good renovation is won at the desk, not on the site. With 30 years of experience, here are our 7 rules of renovation planning.
1. Write the need before the dream
Is there a leak, or just a wish for change? Urgent needs (plumbing, insulation) always come before aesthetics.
2. Work backwards: from handover day to today
When does the furniture arrive? When must the paint be done? Build the schedule backwards from delivery.
3. Top to bottom, inside to outside
Ceiling → walls → floor; demolition → plumbing → finishes → paint. Break the sequence and you pay twice.
4. Keep a 20% reserve in the budget
In buildings over ten years old, opening a wall always reveals a surprise: corrosion, damp, old wiring.
5. Choose materials before the site starts
Delays in tiles, fixtures and parquet stop the whole site. They must be selected and delivered before work begins.
6. Ask for weekly photo reports
Follow-up is the tangible form of trust. In our projects a weekly photo report is standard.
7. Appoint a single point of contact
Turnkey project management ends exactly this chaos: one contract, one schedule, one responsible party.
